Our successful apprenticeship programme provides long-term career opportunities and will assist you in achieving your full potential through continuous training. We take on apprentices in the following business areas:
Working from either our Head Office or our Cramlington based Offsite Factory, you will work alongside our current team of Administrators assisting in the day to day office duties. Duties can include taking and directing phone calls, filling and copying, monitoring and ordering stationery supplies and managing the meeting rooms.
Our Finance team are currently based in our Head Office in Northumberland Business Park. You will be working across all areas of Finance in order to establish where your skills lie, or what your preferences may be. During your apprenticeship, your duties could include; working with our Purchase Ledger, Payroll, Sales Ledger and Credit Control teams.
We have an established team of CAD Technicians based at Head Office. We work alongside your training provider to enable you to develop a good foundation of basic CAD and design skills. You will work with the Team leaders on the drawings and on various different projects throughout your studies. You will have the option to specialise in a specific area of design following the completion of your studies.
Merit is the proud owner of the biggest Offsite Factory in the North East. At 270,000ft², it is a vast and busy workshop. We currently employ a large number of qualified Pipefitters and Welders, but we are passionate about our apprentice recruitment in this area as it gives you an opportunity to learn on the job and learn a lot more about what Merit do.

Ben completed an advanced apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding in July 2016. Prior to this, Ben was apprentice of the year in 2014 and in 2015 he took part in a SkillWeld competition after being nominated by the college and became regional winner.
Since completing his apprenticeship Ben has worked hard to continue progressing and completed a SSSTS course in November 2016. Ben is currently working between the Merit Factory and a number of our sites across the UK working on all areas of fabrication and welding.
