Merit Managing Director, Tony Wells and his co-driver, Colin Noble finished the final round of this year’s Michelin Le Mans Cup with a win at Portimao for Nielsen Racing.
An inspired call from the pits and a fantastic restart from Colin vaulted them fifth to second in the late stages of the race, eventually winning after the lead car incurred penalties. The result saw them finishing fifth overall for the series in the Nielsen Racing Duqueine Automotive car.
Luck was against them in the 4 hour European Le Mans race on Sunday when mechanical problems resulted in a 12th place finish.
After enjoying top spot on the podium at the weekend, Tony picked up another trophy in the end of season accolades when he was awarded the European Le Mans Series “Gentleman Driver of the Year.
