Merit’s 2022 David Llewellyn Apprenticeship Award winner is…

We’re incredibly proud to announce that we have our new 2022 David Llewellyn Apprenticeship Award winner… Adam Woods!

Merit held its annual David Llewellyn Apprenticeship Award during this year’s National Apprenticeship Week (6th – 10th February), where we celebrated and shined a spotlight on our brilliant Apprentices, and also announced our new winner. Taking place at Merit’s Cramlington-based factory, the award ceremony is a highly regarded event in Merit’s calendar each year.

This poignant award was launched back in 2019 in memory of Merit’s esteemed colleague, David, who sadly passed away to cancer earlier that same year.

Starting his career at Merit as one of the first apprentices, David was a highly respected and valued member of the team. His incredible work ethic, passion and dedication for the job is what truly showed, and this meant he swiftly progressed into Merit’s estimating department upon completion of his apprenticeship. David was an integral part of the team, and a much-loved friend.

This award celebrates the Apprentice that best demonstrates the attributes as shown by David, these include; honesty, kindness and a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the job at hand. To date, Merit has worked closely with nearly 60 apprentices, and this year all 27 of the company’s brilliant apprentices were invited to apply for the award.
