Merit Achieves ISO 45001 Certification

Northumberland-headquartered offsite construction specialist, Merit, has attained certification against ISO 45001, the International Standard for Occupational Health & Safety, awarded through the British Assessment Bureau. This prestigious accreditation underscores Merit’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in health and safety management across its operations.

Merit is a leading specialist in the manufactured delivery of high-quality, technically complex facilities for the healthcare, life sciences, education and battery tech sectors.

Following an extensive eight-day assessment, the British Assessment Bureau evaluated Merit’s Health & Safety Management Systems, procedures, protocols and compliance with the ISO Standard. The successful certification signifies a major milestone in Merit’s ongoing efforts to ensure the health and safety of its workforce, clients and stakeholders alike.

ISO 45001 provides a suitable framework for managing occupational health and safety, helping organisations improve workplace safety and minimise employee injuries.

ISO 45001 replaces 18001 and is recognised internationally as the leading accreditation for Health & Safety Management. With this certification, Merit now holds the full HSEQ Triple certification, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), further enhancing the company's reputation in the industry.

Speaking of the new accreditation, Michael Marley, Merit’s HSE Manager, said: “I am thrilled that we have attained ISO 45001 certification, which reinforces our unwavering commitment to health and safety within Merit. This achievement reflects the hard work of Merit’s workforce in fostering a culture of safety and demonstrates our proactive approach to minimising risks. At Merit, we believe the prioritising health and safety is a fundamental part of delivering innovative solutions to our customers.”
