

Northumberland-headquartered Merit, is pleased to announce its successful appointment to the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) Modular Building Framework. This appointment marks Merit’s second consecutive term on the framework, underscoring the company’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality modular solutions across the UK public sector.
As a leading specialist in the manufactured delivery of technically complex facilities, Merit serves key sectors including healthcare, life sciences, education, semiconductors and battery technology.
The four-year framework simplifies the procurement of modular buildings for public sector clients, enabling a more efficient response to urgent healthcare infrastructure needs.
Through the effective utilisation of modular buildings, the NHS aims to enhance capacity and treat a greater number of patients in response to increasing waiting lists and a shortage of clinical space.
Merit has been successfully named on five lots as part of the framework, including:
- Lot 1.1 - Healthcare Modular New Build (£0-5m)
- Lot 1.2 - Healthcare Modular New Build (£5-15m)
- Lot 1.3 - Healthcare Modular New Build (£15m-£25m)
- Lot 1.4 - Healthcare Modular New Build (£25m+)
- Lot 2 - Healthcare Modular Hire and Lease
The offsite construction specialist is proud to highlight a recent project secured through this framework - the new Hybrid Theatre and MRI Facility at York Hospital - which the firm is currently delivering.

Merit is actively delivery a range of notable healthcare projects, including Berwick’s new Community Hospital, the Hybrid Theatre and MRI Facility at York Hospital and a new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit at Bedford Hospital. Most recently, the company successfully completed the therapy-led rehabilitation unit at Norwich Community Hospital, facilitating smoother patient transitions from hospital care to the community.
